FAQ Leave of Absence
During your studies, it may be necessary for various reasons to interrupt your program for one or a maximum of two consecutive semesters and apply for a leave of absence.
Typically, a leave of absence is due to a study-related stay abroad, be it due to a semester abroad or an internship abroad.
The leave of absence must be applied for at the Student Administration Office in due time. All information can be found on their website. There you will also find information on fees.
What are the implications of a leave of absence?
You cannot take any examinations while you are on leave of absence.
In practice, this means that if, for example, you are on leave of absence in the winter semester (1.10. - 31.03.), you cannot take any examinations that take place during this period - not even the second date of the previous summer semester. You will also not be able to submit your Bachelor's or Master's thesis during a leave of absence.
