General Information

  • PLEASE NOTE: There have been further changes to the information on this page from winter semester 2024/25 on. Please read it carefully.
  • The first and second exam period at AWI are independent from each other, including a respective registration period for all lecture exams. In case of a written exam, deregistration is possible until three days beforehand, in case of alternative exam formats applies: end of registration = end of deregistration.
  • After the end of the respective period, (de)registration is not possible anymore.
  • The courses offered can be found in heiCO (see link on the right; ‘L’ = lecture, ‘SE’ = seminar). For the time being, registrations for seminars will continue to take place as described in the respective course text. Students who receive a seminar place are implicitly registered for 'examination' and will be graded; from then on, withdrawing is only possible due to illness.
  • Students who are unable to attend an exam due to illness must submit a medical certificate to the Examination Office within three days of the examination, incl. the student number and the name(s) of the affected exam(s). Certificates submitted later cannot be considered. Anyone who misses an exam unexcused will receive a grade of 5.0 (= fail).
  • The medical certificate must certify incapacity for examination and bear the practice stamp and the doctor's signature; certificates of incapacity for work ("Arbeitsunfähigkeitsbescheinigungen") can no longer be accepted. Please note that a medical certificate affects all exams within the attested period.
  • Since summer semester 2024, the following has applied: (De)Registration (for lectures) and the notification of results (for all exams) take place in heiCO. This also applies to non-AWI students; results are no longer be posted and it is no longer necessary to request a written proof ('Schein') or have them sent to the respective examination office. Only students of the University of Mannheim will continue to proceed as before for the time being.
  • The current status of an exam and information on the exam review offered by the examiners can be found on the 'Correction Status' page.
  • Please note the additional information and manuals below.

AWI students

In addition to the information above, the following applies to all students enrolled in an AWI study programme:

  • To register for AWI exams, use the ‘My Degree Programme’ tile; for registrations for exams at other institutes, use the ‘Interdisciplinary Exam Registration/Deregistration’ tile. Please always register with the correct study programme (not the combi or parallel programme).
  • Exceptions:
    • Bachelor 100% students can register for most IPW and MWI exams (module ‘Interdisciplinary Perspectives’) also with ‘My Degree Programme’. Please note the requirements for exam participation as described in the module handbook, without which registration is not possible.
    • Bachelor 50% or 25% students register for exams of their other subject with ‘My Degree Programme’ as well, by choosing the respective study programme.
  • B.Sc. Economics students cannot use M.Sc. Economics courses for their study programme.
  • Please also refer to the corresponding Moodle forum posts for information on exam registration for ‘Economic and Social Statistics’.
  • You can use the ‘My Exams' tile to check your registrations and to deregister.
  • When registering with ‘Interdisciplinary Exam Registration/Deregistration’ for exams at other institutes, registration is usually only possible as ‘free registration’. The exam result will then be visible to you in your account, but will not be automatically recorded in your curriculum; please contact us at the Exam Office for this final step.
  • Use the links on the right to find manuals from the heiCO team and the AWI FAQs with, among other things, the most common heiCO error messages. If you have any questions, please check there first and then contact us at the Exam Office. From now on, contact in the event of problems or missed deadlines can only be answered if it takes place immediately and with us at the Exam Office.
