Ranking of Economics Departments
The Wirtschaftswoche and the KOF Institute regularly rank economists and economic departments in Germany, Austria and Switzerland according to their publications in international journals in the field.
In the most recently published ranking, Heidelberg’s Ferdinand Rauch has been ranked fifth in Germany in the ranking of young economists below the age of 40. The Alfred Weber Institute was ranked 7th in Germany, with Stefan Trautmann currently the researcher who contributed most to the institute’s total score. In total there are about 70 economics departments in Germany.
